Katie Mayo is a dedicated and experienced family law attorney at Kaye, Lembeck, Hitt & French, where she combines extensive legal knowledge with a compassionate and personalized approach to family law practice. With a strong understanding of the emotional complexities inherent in domestic legal issues, Katie strives to make each client feel comfortable, confident, and cared for throughout their legal journey.

Recognizing the uniqueness of each family law case, Katie expertly guides clients through intricate issues such as child custody and support, asset division, alimony, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. She provides thoughtful and supportive counsel, drawing on her legal expertise and creativity to craft solutions tailored to each client’s individual circumstances.

Katie received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Florida, followed by her Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law, where she received a full academic merit scholarship. During her time in law school, she made substantial contributions to her local community and the fields of family law and child welfare more broadly. Working as a UGA Law Graduate Assistant, she conducted specialized research in the field of child welfare law, culminating in the addition of a child trafficking chapter in the 4th Edition of Child Welfare Law and Practice, a vital resource used by child welfare advocates and practitioners across the nation.

While obtaining her law degree, Katie served as a Student Practitioner in the Wilbanks Child Endangerment and Sexual Exploitation Clinic, where she provided legal services to survivors of child sexual abuse and exploitation in civil lawsuits and dependency proceedings. She also worked at UGA Law’s Family Justice Clinic, representing survivors of domestic violence in various family law matters. In law school, she took on leadership roles as a Dean’s Ambassador, Vice President of the Family Law Society, and a member of the Editorial Board of the Georgia Journal of Intellectual Property.

Throughout her legal career, Katie has established a robust litigation background in both private and public sectors. Before joining Kaye, Lembeck, Hitt & French, she represented clients across Georgia in a variety of complex family law matters at one of the state’s largest family law firms. In the public interest arena, she has provided pro bono representation to clients through Cobb Legal Aid and the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, assisting families who might otherwise not be able to afford legal services. She has also contributed to high-profile criminal litigation and anti-capital punishment advocacy at the Georgia Capital Defender Office.

In recognition of her dedication to holistic family law practice, Katie was named a National Fellow of the Christian Legal Society in 2021, highlighting her commitment to integrating her faith with her professional practice.

Outside of the office, Katie enjoys reading, traveling with her husband, volunteering with her local children’s ministry, and cheering on the Florida Gators with family and friends.
