A Guardian Ad Litem is a person appointed by the court or agreed to by the parties to represent the child or children in the case and make recommendations regarding the best interest of the child or children. If a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) is appointed to your case, the GAL is paramount to the outcome and it is critical to ensure the proper GAL is working on your case. Because, although the GAL is required to remain neutral, his or her recommendation has significant implications on the outcome of a case.
